The Gratitude Post

I'm writing a weekly post to express gratitude for everything I have been blessed with in my life. Will you join me in sharing just five things you are grateful for this week?

This week I'm grateful for:

Working: I'm getting back into the swing of things and I am especially grateful to be around adults for most of the day. I love my children, but I need to be intellectually challenged on a regular basis if I am to provide the same challenges for them at home. I feel very happy with what I'm doing right now and it translates into my parenting.

Awesome children: H & P really are awesome. I just can't say enough about them sometimes. We took a day trip on Sunday to go to church (2 1/2 hours one way) and not a single complaint was heard from either of them the entire time. They were fabulous. And, Heidi made it the whole ride down without needing to pee. So, so grateful for them every day.

Books: I'm always grateful for books and as I look at my shelves every day, I smile and am glad that I am so blessed with the written word.

Fuzzy blankets: I love fuzzy blankets. They help keep me warm at night. The end.

Living Green: I love my life. Wait, I love my green life. I really do. I love everything about it from my vinegar to my cloth paper towels to my cloth toilet paper! I'm so thankful that I've made all these changes and so thankful for how my life has changed because of them.

  1. That's funny... I was looking at all my art books today on my bookshelf and thinking how I would always have them, and how Baby T and Little M would investigate them one day. Some of them came from my parents' bookshelf, and I did the same thing when I began becoming intrigued by art.

I was also thinking about living green today. It kind of came about by both necessity and a desire to help the earth. Besides being eco-friendly, it's just simpler, cheaper, and in a lot of cases--like with colorful diaper covers and fun dishtowels--cuter!

    1. Books make me drool. Both of my parents always had huge collections and multiple book shelves that I would just ogle over as a child. It's wonderful how inspiring they can be!

My "greeness" came from multiple avenues as well, which is why I think it's more powerful. It can be so "attractive!" My cloth paper towels aren't exactly pretty (maybe the ones I've used to wipe up finger paint are..), but the diapers are cute and so is my toilet paper! ha!

  2. What a great list! I've missed this and I think my life needs this simple weekly reckoning. I feel so much more peaceful after having written my own.
I love the way you talk about your children.
And I agree about fuzzy blankets. I got the softest sweater for Christmas. I keep petting myself!
I've never heard of cloth paper towels. I want to be that green. I keep working toward it. Good for you!

    1. Thank you for sharing this week! I especially love the fact that you pet yourself... :) I just have an image of you constantly rubbing your arms or something :). I've done it too, though! (Myself, not you :) )

  3. I'm glad you have a job that makes you happy. It is so important to enjoy how you spend your days. This is my first month back from maternity leave and it would so much harder if I didn't love my job.
