Who I Am

My name is Amanda and I became a wife and mother in 2008. I became a mother again a little over a year later and now have two amazing girls to my name. Although there was a time when I doubted whether or not I wanted to be a mother, I know this role was meant for me and I plunged head first into it.

I have a B.S. in Clinical Psychology with a minor in Writing and a M.A. in Community Psychology with a concentration in Program Development. Right now, I am fortunate enough to have the opportunity to stay at home with my children and watch them grow every day. When they are older, I will look into job opportunities outside the home.

I'm extremely passionate about nutrition and strive to feed my family the absolute best food combinations that are available to us. I love to garden and grow my own food, whether or not I have an actual plot to put it in. I've also recently become very interested in sewing and I hope to spend the rest of my early mothering years making Halloween costumes and clothes that cannot be purchased at the store. One of my oldest passions is writing, which is why I started this blog in the first place, so you will occasionally see a completely creative piece since I use this space to stretch my writing brain.

I am a natural parent and volunteer for the Natural Parents Network where I edit reviews, giveaways and other articles. I parent my children as gently as possible with the intention of shaping them into strong, capable adults. I am also passionate about natural birthing practices, breastfeeding, baby wearing and making responsible, informed decisions in every aspect of a child's life.

This blog is a mish-mash of all of these things. I share stories and recipes, tips, lists and practices in the hope that someone, somewhere might find something I say helpful. I always welcome positive feedback and constructive criticism, but I hope this space will remain a collection of everything that represents who I am.
